Step 1 – Inspect Before Use Before each use, visually inspect the apron for any cracks, tears, holes, or damage to the outer cover. If any damage is detected, do not use the apron and have it tested or replaced immediately.
Step 2 – Prepare the Patient Ask the patient to be seated comfortably in the dental chair before placing the apron. Ensure the patient's clothing does not obstruct proper placement.
Step 3 – Drape the Apron Over the Patient Hold the apron by the shoulders and gently drape it over the patient's front, covering the chest, abdomen, and lap area. Ensure vital organs are fully covered.
Step 4 – Secure with Velcro Closure Fasten the Velcro straps securely at the back or sides to hold the apron in place without restricting the patient's comfort or breathing.
Step 5 – Proceed with X-Ray Procedure Once the apron is properly fitted and secured, proceed with the dental radiographic imaging procedure as required.
Step 6 – Remove After Procedure After the X-ray is complete, unfasten the Velcro closure and carefully remove the apron from the patient. Assist the patient if needed.
Step 7 – Wipe & Disinfect After each patient use, wipe the surface of the apron with a mild disinfectant solution or approved surface disinfectant wipe. Do not immerse the apron in liquid or machine wash.
Step 8 – Storage Hang the apron on a dedicated apron rack or drape it flat. Do not fold, crease, or stack heavy objects on the apron, as this can damage the lead lining and reduce its shielding effectiveness.
⚠️ Care & Safety Instructions:
- Never fold the apron — always hang or lay it flat to avoid cracking the lead lining
- Conduct periodic fluoroscopic or radiographic testing to verify shielding integrity
- For professional clinical use only
- Keep away from children when not in use
- Replace the apron if shielding damage is detected
