Step 1 — Ensure the patient’s teeth have been properly scaled and rinsed before starting the polishing procedure.
Step 2 — Dispense a small quantity of Prevest Spectra Prophylaxis Paste into a clean dappen dish or suitable mixing container.
Step 3 — Attach a rubber prophylaxis cup or polishing brush to a low-speed dental handpiece.
Step 4 — Dip the prophylaxis cup or brush into the polishing paste to pick up a small amount of material.
Step 5 — Place the polishing cup gently on the tooth surface and start the handpiece at low speed.
Step 6 — Move the cup across each tooth surface using light pressure and controlled circular motions to remove plaque, stains, and debris.
Step 7 — Continue polishing all teeth systematically to ensure uniform cleaning and smooth enamel surfaces.
Step 8 — Reapply additional paste if required while polishing different tooth areas.
Step 9 — After completing the polishing procedure, ask the patient to rinse the mouth thoroughly with clean water.
Step 10 — Inspect the teeth to ensure all stains and plaque deposits have been removed effectively.
Step 11 — Dispose of any remaining paste and clean the polishing cup and instruments according to clinical sterilization protocols.
