Direction To Use

Step-by-step instructions

  • Open the bag and pour the alginate into a hermetically-sealed container.
  • Shake 2 or 3 times to spread powder and then dose: use the dosing measuring spoon to pour out the alginate without compressing the powder.
  • Level and remove excess alginate using the flat part of the spatula and then pour into a rubber mixing bowl.
  • Repeat until the desired quantity is obtained.
  • For each spoon of powder (9g), pour 1/3 of the measuring cup of water (18 ml). E.g. for two doses of powder (18 g) required for a medium upper impression tray, pour 2/3 of the measuring cup of water (36 ml).
  • Close the container and store between 5°C/41°F and 27°C/80°F.
  • Add water to powder to begin mixing, in accordance with recommended times listed in the table, place material onto the impression tray and insert into oral cavity before end of working time.
  • Wait for material to harden, follow recommendations for length of time in oral cavity.
  • Once the impression has been removed from the patient’s mouth, ask them to rinse their mouth with warm water.
  • Inspect the patient’s mouth to ensure there are no remaining traces of alginate.
  • For homogeneous mixing, which reduces the number of air bubbles, a mechanical or automatic mixer may be used, in accordance with instructions and times supplied by the producer.

Got Any Doubts?

What do the color changes indicate during the impression process?

The chromatic indicator visually guides the user through the procedure. The purple phase indicates mixing time, the orange phase is for working time and loading the tray, and the yellow phase signals the time in the mouth.

What are the working and setting times for this alginate?

When mixed at 23°C (73°F), the total working time, including mixing, is 1 minute and 10 seconds. The recommended time in the mouth is 1 minute, and the final setting time is 2 minutes and 10 seconds from the start of mixing.

What is the primary composition of this impression material?

This is a sodium alginate-based powder. Key components include diatomaceous earth, calcium sulphate, sodium alginate, and a PH indicator for the color-changing properties.

What are its key physical properties for accuracy and removal?

The material demonstrates high elasticity with an elastic recovery of 96%. It also has a specified tear resistance value of 0.65, contributing to a durable impression.

Is this material likely to flow to the back of the mouth?

No, the material is thixotropic. This property ensures that it does not flow into the patient's throat, enhancing comfort and safety during the procedure.
